RED FERN BROOKLYN is a sustainable landscape design and holistic gardening studio

In our work we strive to integrate inspired design and sustainability. By situating gardens within a wider, urban ecosystem, we produce enduring landscapes that support ecological vigor and contribute new, verdant spaces to the city. Responding to the crisis of our changing planet, we uphold the power of gardens to rejuvenate, reconnect, and provide respite.

We build relationships with our clients to create organic spaces that reflect the personalities of those who inhabit them. This relationship extends beyond initial garden installation through a variety of educational materials, care guides, maintenance programs, and ongoing consultation to ensure the long-lasting enjoyment of your green space.

SERA ROGUE – Owner & Designer

Growing up the daughter of a florist in rural Michigan, Sera learned about plants and gardening at a very early age. She has been working professionally in the NYC landscape design industry for the last eleven years.  A graduate of the University of Michigan and Columbia University, the writer and filmmaker left a career as a commercial director to pursue sustainable design. Sera lets her artistic intuition instruct her garden design, viewing each green space as a temporal experience inspired by form, color, movement, and character.

Sera’s horticultural practice is strongly influenced by the belief that New Yorkers can all take steps in solving the Climate Crisis by increasing greenspaces, learning about the benefits of plants, understanding our place in the larger ecosystem, and being willing to pressure our leaders to meet climate goals. Every effort counts towards solutions to our greatest challenges.
